What to Expect on the Night

Prom Night – Friday 27th June 2025
Venue: Mercure Hotel, Manchester
Start Time: 7:00pm | Finish: 12:00 midnight

It’s almost time to celebrate the end of an era – here’s everything you need to know about how the evening will run.

Arrival & Check-In

Doors open at 7:00pm. Please make your way to the 3rd floor (International Suite) via the lift.

On arrival, students will be greeted and checked in at the entrance. A cloakroom will be available for coats and bags, so you can enjoy the evening hands-free.

Chaperones – if you're volunteering on the night, we’d really appreciate it if you could arrive by 6:45pm.

Photography

Professional photographer Ian will be capturing your grand entrance into the International Suite and all the best bits throughout the evening. He’ll be on-site until around 10:00pm, covering arrivals, the awards, and the first part of the dancing. After 10pm, the camera will be packed away and we’ll be leaving everyone to enjoy the rest of the night without being photographed – so you can relax, let your hair down, and dance the night away in peace.

All edited photos will be uploaded to the SGS Prom website after the event, where parents and students will be able to download them free of charge.

Decoration

There’ll be a flower wall backdrop, complete with a balloon arch and light-up letters, creating the perfect spot for those all-important prom photos with your friends.

Food & Seating

From 7:00pm to 8:00pm, you’ll have time to mingle, chat, and take in the atmosphere before food is served at 8:00pm.

There is no formal seating plan, so once you’ve collected your food from the buffet, feel free to sit wherever you like, with whoever you choose.

The SGS 2025 Awards

Our very own SGS Prom Awards will begin at 9:00pm – so make sure you’ve cast your votes before then!

And just a friendly reminder: the voting is anonymous. While we admire your loyalty, writing “my bf” under Fittest Boy (yes, several of you!) won’t help us identify him – but we’re very happy for you.

On the night, voting for Prom King and Queen will be open from 7:00pm until 8:30pm. You'll all be handed a voting slip as we check you in.

Let’s Dance

Once the awards are over, it’s time to hit the dance floor! The rest of the evening is all about celebrating with your friends and making memories.

The night will end at 12:00 midnight, when carriages (or taxis, realistically) await.

We can’t wait to see you there – dressed to the nines and ready for a brilliant night to remember.
